This project is addressing accessibility issues at the platforms and 1953 station building. The work will also improve passenger safety and provide operational flexibility for trains.
This $36 million project is the first of three proposed phases of major improvements to develop Paoli Station into a fully ADA-compliant, modernized, intermodal passenger station. Phase I work includes:
- A new center island between the eastbound and westbound tracks;
- High-level (accessible) platforms;
- Elevators and ramps;
- A pedestrian overpass;
- ADA improvements to the existing station building; and
- Upgrades to the station's rail infrastructure.
Construction began in February 2017 and is expected to be completed by late 2018.
Amtrak is leading the project with additional funding by PennDOT, the Federal Railroad Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, and SEPTA.
