The Mount Joy Station improvements will achieve ADA accessibility, improve station function and passenger amenities, and create a station identity consistent with Main Street Mount Joy revitalization.
The $25 million project will transform the Mount Joy train stop into a landmark station, with distinctive stair/elevator towers accessible from South Market Street and a pedestrian overpass between the eastbound and westbound platforms. Improvements will include:

- 500-foot-long, high-level (accessible) platforms with canopies;
- Slope stabilization;
- Stormwater management; and
- Additional site improvements.
The Mount Joy Station groundbreaking was held in October 2016, and construction began in early 2017. Construction is expected to be completed in phases within three years.
PennDOT is leading the project with additional funding by the Federal Transit Administration, Amtrak, and Mount Joy Borough.
